Genetic evaluation of juvenile xanthogranuloma: Genomic abnormalities are uncommon in solitary lesions, advanced cases may show more complexity

Modern Pathology Aug 16, 2017

Paxton CN, et al. – The goal of this work was to evaluate the genetic profile of juvenile xanthogranuloma. It was reported that the presence of non–recurrent copy number alterations in a subset of samples indicated that copy number changes were unlikely driving pathogenesis in juvenile xanthogranuloma. Nevertheless, they could be acquired during disease progression. The presence of genomic abnormalities in more advanced cases (ie, systemic and diffuse cutaneous juvenile xanthogranuloma) validated this notion, especially as the advanced cases of juvenile xanthogranuloma exhibited more genomic complexity.
