General health status of asthmatic children during COVID‐19 pandemic
Pediatrics International Sep 11, 2020
Hepkaya E, Kilinc AA, Cebi MN, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to uncover the general health status of pediatric asthmatic patients during the COVID‐19 pandemic, taking into account the role of household factors in parental attitudes. Sixty asthmatic patients and their parents were asked to answer a questionnaire with the aim of revealing the patients' current health status and the family's general approach to asthma management during the pandemic. In total, 8 patients had had an asthma attack during the outbreak, but there was no confirmed relationship with COVID‐19 infection. The crucial point of asthma management is to keep the medical and psychological status of both patients down which may result in minimizing the pandemic effects. Healthcare professionals should also pay attention to patients' household members that their adaptation period to the pandemic's 'new normal' can directly affect patients' health status.
