Gene-lifestyle interaction on risk of type 2 diabetes: A systematic review
Obesity Reviews Sep 10, 2019
Dietrich S, et al. - As the pathophysiological influence of gene-lifestyle interactions on the risk of developing T2D is currently under intensive research, researchers have summarized the evidence of gene-lifestyle interactions with the incidence of T2D. For this investigation, they systematically searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Web of Science until January 31, 2019. Of the 66 publications which were eligible, 28 reported significant interactions. TCF7L2 variants were most frequently examined and demonstrated T2D incidence interactions with fiber and whole grain. Physical activity had interactions with variants of HNF1B, IRS1, PPARγ, ADRA2B, SLC2A2, and ABCC8 variants and weight loss interventions with ENPP1, PPARγ, ADIPOR2, ADRA2B, TNFα, and LIPC. Most results, however, reflect results from single research acquired in European ethnicities. Although there have been reports of some interactions, their conclusiveness is still small, as most results have not yet been replicated across various study populations.
