Jhon M, et al. - Clinical and gender-specific risk factors for low bone mineral density (BMD) were examined in adult patients with psychotic disorders. Among patients with the psychotic disorder, managing the risk factors associated with low BMD ought to be done gender-specifically. As the use of these medications appeared to be a modifiable risk factor for osteoporosis in women with psychotic disorders, psychotropic agents needed to be prescribed mindful of their effects on bone.
