Gender disparities in percutaneous coronary intervention in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: A nationwide cross-sectional observational study
The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Jul 10, 2018
Jeong JS, et al. - Gender disparities in the delivery of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) was investigated among out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients. For the final analysis, researchers included 20,675 adult OHCA patients with presumed cardiac etiology and sustained return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) between 2013 and 2016. Female patients were significantly less likely to undergo PCI than males among sustained ROSC patients following OHCA. After adjusting for PCI and other confounding factors, overall survival outcomes were not significantly associated with gender.
