Gender disparities in percutaneous coronary intervention in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine Mar 28, 2019

Jeong JS, et al. - Researchers examined 20,675 adult out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) patients with presumed cardiac etiology and a sustained return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) to assess any differences based on gender in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) delivery among these patients. Observations revealed significantly lower likelihood of female patients to undergo PCI vs males. No significant links between gender and time from ROSC to PCI was noted among those who received PCI. After adjusting for PCI and other confounding factors, no significant correlation of overall survival outcomes with gender was noted.
