Comprehensive Psychiatry Jan 25, 2018
Kocsis-Bogár K, et al. - Researchers conduct this work to further assess the connection of specific type of trauma and specific psychotic symptoms as well as the course of illness with explicit regard to gender differences. Findings reveal that compared to men, women generally tend to have a more favorable course of illness including a later age at onset. However, women with CPA seem to lose this “advantage”. In both sexes, CPA contributes to a less favorable course of illness in schizophrenia. It predicts an earlier age at onset specifically in women. Men with general childhood trauma had more frequent psychiatric admissions.
