Salas J, et al. - Authors here aimed at assessing if the association between long term opioid analgesic use (OAU) and risk of a new depression episode (NDE) differed by gender. Results suggested an increased risk of a new depression episode in both genders following >90 day opioid use. Closer monitoring of mood associated with chronic opioid use could benefit women and men.
