Gastric MALT lymphoma in a population-based study in France: Clinical features, treatments, and survival
Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics Jul 31, 2019
Matysiak-Budnik T, et al. - In a population-based study in France, researchers examined the clinical characteristics, management and survival in patients with gastric mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (GML), a rare gastric tumor. Between 2002 and 2010, all new cases of GML diagnosed in 11 French areas covered by cancer registries were enrolled in this study. They found 416 patients with confirmed GML (50% male, median age 67 years). According to findings, GMLs are more frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage compared with clinical series in the general population, their clinical management is heterogeneous, and there is a risk of misdiagnosis and overtreatment. These findings highlight the need to follow the guidelines currently available in this field.
