Fused high b-value diffusion weighted and T2-weighted MR images in staging of pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma: A pilot study
European Journal of Radiology Nov 16, 2019
Spijkers S, et al. - A total of 21 consecutive pediatric patients who underwent whole-body MRI at Hodgkin lymphoma staging were involved in order to assess the value of fused high b-value diffusion weighted and T2-weighted MRI in comparison with T1-weighted imaging, T2-weighted imaging and DWI for staging pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma. For nodal staging and extra-nodal staging, agreement for whole-body MRI without fused images and FDG-PET/CT was superior. Agreement enhanced with the addition of the fused DWI/T2-weighted images. In 18 out of 21 persons, disease stage for MRI including fused DWI/T2-weighted images agreed with the reference standard. Thus, in staging pediatric Hodgkin lymphoma, adding DWI/T2-weighted fusion images to T1-weighted, T2-weighted and DWI whole-body MRI may decrease reading times and enhance the diagnostic performance of whole-body MRI.
