Fundic gland polyp prevalence according to Helicobacter pylori infection status
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Nov 22, 2019
Notsu T, et al. - Researchers examined how fundic gland polyp (FGP) prevalence is associated with Helicobacter pylori infection status. Among 3,400 enrolled individuals (2,185 males, 1,215 females; mean age 54.7±9.5 years), 1,029 (30.3%) exhibited FGPs in endoscopy. In H. pylori-negative, -positive, and posteradicated individuals, they observed the FGP positivity prevalence ratio of 51.9%, 1.7%, and 12.0%, respectively. The analysis revealed a lower risk of FGP occurrence in individuals who have undergone H. pylori eradication treatment relative to those who have never been infected. However, following eradication, this risk increases over time.
