Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Aug 09, 2021
Siddique A, Simonsick EM, Gallicchio L, et al. - Cancer and/or its treatment may modify aging trajectories as greater odds of and accelerated functional decline were observed in cancer survivors, especially in older people.
Community dwelling healthy volunteers in the Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging were assessed.
1.42 greater odds of weak grip strength were noted in relation to a history of cancer.
1.61 greater odds of slow gait speed and a 0.11 unit lower physical performance score were seen in older participants (>65 years of age) with a history of cancer vs those without.
