Fumaric acid esters in combination with a 6-week course of narrowband ultraviolet B provides an accelerated response compared with fumaric acid esters monotherapy in patients with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis: A randomized prospective clinical study
British Journal of Dermatology Apr 04, 2018
Tzaneva S, et al. - In a randomized controlled prospective trial, experts (based at the Department of Dermatology, Medical University of Vienna, Austria) gauged if an initial addition of narrow-band ultraviolet (NB-UVB) to fumaric acid esters (FAE) improved the clinical response and quality of life in patients with plaque psoriasis. They randomly assigned the patients to 2 treatment groups: 1 group received treatment with FAE alone and the second group received a combination of FAE and a 6-week course of narrow-band UVB. As per the data, the clearing of psoriasis and the patients’ quality of life were accelerated and improved by adding a short course of NB-UVB to FAE.
