Frequency of and factors associated with obstructive sleep apnea and periodic limb movements in stroke and TIA patients

Gadodia G, et al. - During this study, experts comprehensively analyzed the tie-up between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and periodic limb movements (PLMs) with atrial fibrillation and resistant hypertension in stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients. It was deduced that a major proportion of stroke and TIA patients who underwent polysomnography (PSG) presented with PLMs and moderate-severe OSA. A greater tendency of moderate-severe OSA was found in stroke and TIA patients with atrial fibrillation, which could benefit from PSG evaluation.
