FRAX is a robust predictor of baseline vertebral fractures in multiple myeloma patients
Bone Sep 25, 2018
Atrash S, et al. - Authors assessed how FRAX components and vertebral compression fractures, both pathologic and osteoporotic, correlate with each other. Baseline vertebral fractures in multiple myeloma (MM) patients at presentation were decidedly predicted by an elevated baseline FRAX score. Significantly shorter survival in the low-risk (TT4) group was seen in patients with higher FRAX scores, but the high-risk (TT5) group did not appear to have this survival effect. In order to identify an individual patients' risk of vertebral fracture in MM patients, FRAX assessment of baseline fracture risk is beneficial.
