Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Feb 13, 2019
Fitzpatrick J, et al. - A sum of 370 incident hemodialysis (HD) cases of mean age 55 years enlisted in the Predictors of Arrhythmic and Cardiovascular Risk in End Stage Renal Disease (PACE) study were examined to assess the relationship of frail–obese phenotype with raised mortality risk. They noticed that 22% of subjects were frail with general obesity and 27% with abdominal obesity. An inverse relation between BMI and mortality risk was noted. They also found an association between frailty and elevated mortality risk among HD subjects with general and abdominal obesity.
