Frailty and functional outcomes after open and endovascular procedures for patients with peripheral arterial disease: A systematic review
Journal of Vascular Surgery Jul 24, 2019
van Aalst FM, et al. - Researchers examined how frailty influences functional outcomes after open or endovascular vascular procedures in patients with peripheral arterial disease. In this systematic review, eight studies met the eligibility criteria and were included. The analysis suggests that for discharge to a higher level of care, dependent mobility, and dependency in activities of daily living after vascular procedures for peripheral artery disease, frailty has predictive value. These adverse functional outcomes were observed in correlation to both frailty models and individual frailty characteristics.
