Frailty and delirium in older adults: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature
Journal of the American Geriatrics Society Sep 26, 2018
Persico I, et al. - Researchers assessed the link between frailty and delirium in individuals aged ≥ 65 years by analyzing relevant articles published on or before October 31, 2017, identified from MEDLINE, EMBASE, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar databases. They excluded the articles that involved pediatric or neurosurgical populations, alcohol or substance abuse, psychiatric illness, head trauma, or stroke, as well as review articles, letters, and case reports. Eight studies were eligible for meta-analysis. Findings showed an independent link between frailty and delirium, although notable methodological heterogeneity was noted (using Q and I2 statistics) between the methods used to assess the two conditions.
