Fragmented QRS and mortality in patients undergoing percutaneous intervention for ST-elevation myocardial infarction: Systematic review and meta-analysis
Annals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology Jun 28, 2018
Kanjanahattakij N, et al. - A link between fragmented QRS (fQRS) and mortality in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) has been reported in recent studies, so researchers explored this link via a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature. From inception to September 2017, a comprehensive search of databases was performed to identify published prospective or retrospective cohort and case–control studies that assessed overall mortality among STEMI patients with and without fQRS who had PCI. The meta-analysis of 6 studies from 2014 to 2017 with 2,516 subjects revealed that fragmented QRS was associated with an up to threefold increase in overall mortality. In this patient population, fQRS could be an important risk assessment tool.
