Four-hour voiding observation with provocation test reveals significant abnormalities of bladder function in newborns with spinal dysraphism
Journal of Pediatric Urology Aug 13, 2020
Wide P, Duchen K, Mattsson S, et al. - The present study was conducted to present voiding observation with provocation tests in newborns with spinal dysraphism and compare with corresponding data for healthy newborns. Researchers conducted a 4 h voiding observation with provocation (VOP) in 50 neonates (22 girls, 28 boys) with spinal dysraphism (37 open SD, 13 closed SD) consecutively assessed for possible neurogenic bladder-sphincter dysfunction (1998–2019) at a tertiary hospital. Distinguishing children requiring Clean Intermittent Catheterization is important as well as being able to postpone or refrain from invasive urodynamic studies whether not strongly highlighted. VOP may give valuable information for these judgements.
