Fixed-bearing medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty in patients younger than 55 years of age at 4-19 years of follow-up: A concise follow-up of a previous report
Journal of Arthroplasty Oct 14, 2020
Calkins TE, Hannon CP, Fillingham YA, et al. - In this study, the mid-term outcomes of fixed-bearing medial unicompartmental knee arthroplasty (UKA) were determined in patients less than 55 years of age. Researchers retrospectively examined 77 fixed-bearing medial UKAs in patients less than 55 years of age (mean 49.9, range 38-55) from a previously published report at a mean follow-up of 11.2 years (range 4.1-19.2). For young patients with unicompartmental arthritis, fixed-bearing medial UKA was found to be a durable option, with good clinical outcomes at mid-term follow-up. The study found that unexplained pain was the most common reason for revision to total knee arthroplasty (TKA).
