Five year patient outcomes of endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in the ENDURANT France registry
Journal of Vascular Surgery Jan 24, 2021
Becquemin JP, Haupert S, Issam F, et al. - For infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms, the preferred method of treatment is endovascular repair with numerous publications from multiple geographic regions describing excellent patient outcomes. Since the original ACE (Anevrysme de l'aorte abdominale: Chirurgie versus Endoprothese) randomised control trial, significant contribution to the body of evidence in support of endovascular abdominal aortic repair has also been provided by studies of French specific population. In the ENDURANT France registry, consecutive enrollment of 180 patients was done from 20 French centers initiating in 2012. This study was performed with the aim to report the 5 year outcomes from this registry. In 97.8% (176/180) of patients, instructions for use (IFU) were respected. Overall findings revealed comparable outcomes regarding survival, re-intervention, and freedom from endoleak rates to those reported in recent EVAR registries and that there was a high sac shrinkage rate. They indicated lower secondary procedure and aneurysm rupture than those of ACE, the French RCT which involved older generation devices. This prospective registry establishes favourable 5 year outcomes of the Endurant stent graft utilized within IFU.
