Five-year outcomes of endovascular repair of complicated acute type B aortic dissections
The Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery May 15, 2020
Bavaria JE, Brinkman WE, Hughes GC, et al. - Given that for acute complicated type B aortic dissections (TBAD), thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is the standard of care, researchers here investigated long-term single device outcomes. In this prospective, non-randomized Dissection Trial, treatment was provided to 50 individuals with the Valiant Captivia thoracic stent graft for acute complicated TBAD. As per outcomes, positive and sustained measures of aortic remodeling were achieved in participants. Survival outcomes, need for secondary procedures, and adverse event rates in this trial were in line with prior TEVAR studies. Although limitations exist with the follow up compliance, the Valiant Captivia thoracic stent graft system was suggested to be effective in the long-term management of acute complicated type B aortic dissections in this challenging patient population.
