Five-year outcomes in patients with anemia on admission undergoing a coronary intervention for acute myocardial infarction in Koreans: Propensity score matching analysis
Coronary Artery Disease Dec 06, 2018
Park JY, et al. – In this study, researchers explored if poor long-term clinical outcomes in acute myocardial infarction (AMI) Korean patients undergoing a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with a drug-eluting stent could be independently predicted by anemia on admission. A total of 472 patients with anemia and 671 patients without anemia were examined. These AMI patients were undergoing PCI with drug-eluting stent at Korea University Guro Hospital between 2005 and 2015. The main focus of the study was major adverse cardiac events (MACE) up to 5 years including death, MI, and revascularization. Overall, the investigators observed a higher incidence of MI, target vessel revascularization, and total MACE over the 5-year follow-up in AMI patients with anemia on admission.
