First-line hysterectomy for women with low-risk non-metastatic gestational trophoblastic neoplasia no longer wishing to conceive
Gynecologic Oncology Jun 14, 2018
Bolze PA, et al. - The survival, efficacy, and tolerance seen with first-line hysterectomy in low-risk non-metastatic gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) patients was described in this analysis. It was observed that hysterectomy as a first-line treatment was efficacious without salvage chemotherapy in 82.4% of women with low-risk non-metastatic GTN and could be an alternative to single-agent chemotherapy when childbearing considerations have been fulfilled. This therapeutic option should not be considered in young patients because single-agent chemotherapies were curative in nearly 100% of patients while maintaining fertility.
