First-line adjuvant radiotherapy improves PFS in primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma - A retrospective analysis of 102 patients from a single center
Hematological Oncology Jun 20, 2019
Salek D, et al. - Researchers investigated the role of radiotherapy in the consolidation of remission among patients with diagnosed primary mediastinal large B-cell lymphoma (PMBL). Data of 102 patients with newly diagnosed PMBL treated with the induction regimen, which was mainly CHOP-like chemotherapy (94%) plus rituximab (94%), were retrospectively analyzed. Following 6 cycles of induction chemotherapy, they assessed disease status using PET-CT and the Cheson 2007 criteria. As per physician decision, the eventual consolidation with radiotherapy was undertaken. Outcomes revealed lower relapse rate and better PFS among patients reaching PET negative complete remission after R-CHOP induction, however, the overall survival remained unaffected.
