Fibroblast growth factor-2-mediated FGFR/Erk signaling supports maintenance of cancer stem-like cells in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
Carcinogenesis Sep 19, 2017
Maehara O, et al. - Experts intended to find out whether fibroblast growth factor-2-mediated FGF receptor (FGFR)/Erk signaling supported maintenance of cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). They highlighted fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) as an essential factor regulating CSCs via Mek/Erk signaling in ESCC. For targeting CSCs in ESCC, inhibition of FGFR and/or Mek signaling represented a potential novel therapeutic option.
