Fibrinolysis therapy combined with deferred PCI vs primary angioplasty for STEMI patients during the COVID-19 pandemic: Preliminary results from a single center
International Journal of General Medicine Jan 22, 2021
Nan J, Meng S, Hu H, et al. - Since there is a lack of clarity regarding the efficacy of fibrinolysis therapy with deferred percutaneous coronary angioplasty (FPCI) vs primary angioplasty (PPCI) during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic when medical quarantine is required, therefore, this topic was investigated herein. PPCI was received by 126 ST segment elevation myocardial infarction patients following completion of the screening protocol and 17 patients were managed with FPCI prior to propensity score-matching. According to the findings, a reduction in ischemia time can be conferred by fibrinolysis therapy combined with deferred PCI and this treatment strategy provided a similar in-hospital adverse clinical outcome rate relative to patients who received primary PCI during the COVID-19 pandemic.
