Fibrin glue injection: A rescue treatment for refractory post‐sphincterotomy and post‐papillectomy bleedings
Digestive Endoscopy Oct 09, 2020
Orlandini B, Schepis T, Tringali A, et al. - For treating refractory post‐endoscopic sphincterotomy (ES) and post‐ endoscopic papillectomy (EP) bleeding, researchers assessed the effectiveness and safety of endoscopic fibrin glue (FG) injection. Between October 2007 and November 2019, data were gathered retrospectively from patients with refractory immediate or delayed bleeding following ES or EP at a single institution. A total of 70 patients were involved and, after one session of FG injection, clinical success was seen in 64 (91.4%) patients. There were no serious periprocedural complications. Overall, the authors concluded that rescue therapy with endoscopic FG injection seems to be safe and efficacious for treating refractory post‐ES and post‐EP bleeding. Further studies are needed to confirm these findings.
