Fetal ultrasound scans to guide management of gestational diabetes: Improved neonatal outcomes in routine clinical practice
Diabetes Research and Clinical Practice Feb 17, 2021
Davidson SJ, de Jersey SJ, Britten FL, et al. - In this study, the impacts of ultrasound-guided and non-ultrasound-guided management on neonatal outcomes were compared. Researchers conducted a retrospective, observational study of a random sample of women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and their infants. They compared results between those who had GDM management tailored according to fetal growth and those who did not. For this analysis, 134 had documentation of ultrasound-guided management while 87 did not out of 221 women. The results of this study demonstrated that ultrasound-guided management was independently correlated with improvements in some neonatal outcomes.
