Femoral nerve block intervention in neck of femur fracture (FINOF): A randomised controlled trial
BMJ Open Apr 17, 2018
Rowlands M, et al. - This prospective single-centre trial inspected if the early and continuous use of femoral nerve block could improve pain on movement and mobility after surgery in older participants with fragility neck of femur fracture. It was performed at the Secondary care, acute National Health Service Trust, UK. In contrast with standard systemic analgesia, early application of continuous femoral nerve block did not lead to improved dynamic pain score or superior postoperative ambulation. It was determined that this technique could confer superior pain relief at rest. The inference drawn was that continuous femoral nerve block did not delay initial control of pain or mobilisation after surgery.
