Fecal calprotectin in assessing endoscopic and histological remission in patients with ulcerative colitis
Digestive Diseases and Sciences Apr 27, 2018
Mak WY, et al. - The target of the researchers was to ascertain the connection between fecal calprotectin and endoscopic or histological disease activity and to define the optimal cutoff value in order to determine endoscopic and histological remission in ulcerative colitis (UC) patients. Data illustrated a lower median level of fecal calprotectin compared to those with active histological inflammation. It was reported that fecal calprotectin level exhibited an association with both endoscopic activity and histological activity. It appeared to be a reliable biomarker in evaluating the mucosal healing in UC.
