Febuxostat in the treatment of gout patients with low serum uric acid level: 1-year finding of efficacy and safety study

Shen M, et al. - This retrospective study assessed the efficacy and safety of febuxostat treatment on 36 study participants with gout who had low serum uric acid (SUA) levels. By the end of the study, there was nearly complete abolition of gout flares. Results also showed that, as assessed by dual-energy computerized tomography, tophi resolved markedly vs baseline, and adverse events were experienced by only a few study participants. Findings indicated that treatment with febuxostat had a notable effect patient with gout in the lower SUA level range.
