Borgia RE, et al. - This paper entailed the elucidation of the features and therapeutic aspects of macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE). Researchers also undertook a comparative analysis of the cSLE manifestations and outcomes between those with and without MAS. It was determined that MAS exhibited a greater tendency of development, concomitantly with cSLE diagnosis. Maximum MAS patients underwent successful treatment with corticosteroids, displaying no MAS relapses. A higher risk of death related to MAS was revealed compared to those without MAS, despite small numbers.
