Feature tracking for assessment of diastolic function by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging
Clinical Radiology Jan 08, 2020
Ng MY, Tongb X, Hea J, et al. - Researchers analyzed individuals (n=71; 43 abnormal diastolic functions) who underwent both cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (CMRI) and echocardiography separately in order to estimate the agreement of CMRI feature-tracking (FT) parameters with echocardiography and diagnose diastolic dysfunction and to discover whether a similar parameter to mitral inflow early diastolic velocity to early diastolic tissue velocity ratio (E/e’) could enhance accuracy of imaging by separating the phase-contrast (PC) mitral inflow E-wave (E) with a CMRI-FT parameter and also contrast the agreement among CMRI-FT and PC diastolic function assessment utilizing echocardiography. Utilizing CMRI-FT, the region under the curve (AUC) for recognizing diastolic dysfunction for radial and circumferential strain, systolic strain rate (SSR), and early diastolic strain rate (DSR). For cases with CMRI-determined left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), circumferential DSR was the sole parameter with good accuracy. It was found that CMRI-FT circumferential DSR exhibited the greatest accuracy for discovering diastolic dysfunction with good agreement with echocardiography. Moreover, circumferential DSR had greater accuracy than E/circumferential DSR and PC.
