Feasibility of multiplane microtransoesophageal echocardiographic guidance in structural heart disease transcatheter interventions in adults
Netherlands Heart Journal Sep 15, 2017
Nijenhuis VJ, et al. - This study compared image quality of microTEE (transoesophageal echocardiography) with standard TEE and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) during adult transcatheter interventions and examined the accuracy of microTEE probe and standard TEE for providing left atrial appendage (LAA) measurements. As per observations, microTEE appeared feasible for guidance during transcatheter heart interventions in adults and yielded a wider field of view than ICE, with accuracy comparable to TEE. MicroTEE also showed the potential for being a viable and advantageous alternative to standard TEE or ICE in transcatheter interventions performed under conscious sedation.
