Lee OH, et al. - Whether percutaneous left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion is safe as a strategy for stroke prevention in patients with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation with LAA thrombus, was investigated herein. In select patients with a high risk for bleeding or contraindication to anticoagulation, or in whom anticoagulation failed to prevent stroke, percutaneous LAA occlusion may serve as a safe and feasible alternative to anticoagulation.
