Fate of grafts bypassing non-ischemic vs ischemic inducing coronary stenosis
American Journal of Cardiology Jul 12, 2018
Roh JH, et al. - Researchers compared grafts bypassing ischemia-inducing and non-ischemia-inducing stenoses with respect to the incidence of graft failure to test the efficacy of ischemia-guided coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Using a single-center CABG registry, they identified 2,304 patients with baseline coronary angiography and myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI). Total occlusion on coronary computed tomography angiography, performed at the discretion of the treating physician was used as the definition of graft failure. They compared the incidence of graft failure on a per-graft basis. They found that dysfunction of ischemia-unrelated grafts vs ischemia-related grafts was more frequent. Moreover, ischemia-unrelated grafts failed to prevent adverse events.
