Fan therapy is effective in relieving dyspnea in terminally ill cancer patients: A parallel arm, randomized controlled trial
Journal of Pain and Symptom Management Jul 18, 2018
Kako J, et al. - Researchers assessed the effect of fan therapy on dyspnea in terminally ill cancer patients via a parallel arm, randomized controlled trial with 40 patients with advanced cancer from a palliative care unit at the National Cancer Center Hospital in Japan. In one group, a fan was directed to blow air on the patient’s face for 5 minutes and in the other group (a control group), the air was blown to the patient’s legs. As per outcomes, fan-to-face seemed efficacious in relieving dyspnea in terminally ill cancer patients.
