Kelly C, et al. - This study was planned to evaluate the predictive role of a family history of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in acute pulmonary embolism (PE) in the Emergency Department (ED). Researchers noticed that patients with a self-reported family history of VTE in a first-degree relative were more frequently diagnosed with an acute PE in the ED. This was evident even among those patients considered to have a higher likelihood of PE.
