Family history is significantly associated with prostate cancer and its early onset in Chinese population
The Prostate Sep 17, 2019
Xu Y, Huang D, Wu Y, et al. - Researchers examined how family history (FH) is associated with prostate cancer (PCa) in a Chinese biopsy cohort. Among 2,321 patients who received 10 to 12 core systematic prostate biopsies from April 2013 to October 2018 in three medical centers, a FH of PCa was reported in 83 (3.6%).
As per multivariate logistic regression analysis, there was a 2.1-fold increased risk of PCa in patients with positive FH of PCa, and 1.6-fold increased risk in patients with positive FH of BRCA-related cancers. Earlier age at onset of PCa was reported for patients with positive FH of PCa or BRCA-related cancers.
