Familial liability to epilepsy and ADHD: A nationwide cohort study

Brikell I, et al. – This study's aims were to examine the familial co–aggregation of epilepsy and ADHD as well as to estimate the contribution of genetic and environmental risk factors to their co–occurrence. The data presented in this work showed a strong and etiologically complex relationship between epilepsy and ADHD, with shared familial factors and risk factors unique the individual contributing to co–occurrence between the disorders. The outcomes suggested that epilepsy could share less genetic risk with ADHD, as compared to other neurodevelopmental disorders.
