Fallopian tube endometriosis in women undergoing operative video laparoscopy and its clinical implications
Fertility and Sterility Aug 23, 2020
McGuinness B, Nezhat F, Ursillo L, et al. - Via this retrospective cross-sectional study, the incidence of fallopian tube endometriosis is investigated in patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery with a preoperative diagnosis of endometriosis, pelvic pain, infertility, or cystic adnexal mass. Among a total of 444 surgeries performed for endometriosis from July 2015 to June 2018, 185 met the study criteria. Histological diagnosis of endometriosis within the abdominopelvic cavity was made in 153 (82.7%) patients. Observations revealed significantly greater incidence of microscopic tubal endometriosis than that of macroscopic disease among patients with endometriosis. Tendency towards the severe disease was noted to be higher among patients with tubal endometriosis.
