Arthritis Care & Research Nov 15, 2019
Sari I, Lee S, Tomlinson G, et al. - A total of 350 persons who had baseline and follow-up cervical and lumbar x-rays were involved in the study in order to recognize progression rates, and factors predictive of spinal progression and investigate the impact of tumor necrosis factor inhibitor (TNFi) treatment on radiographic progression. A 20% decrease in the rate of progression with TNFi was noted. A high-risk group for disease progression was presented by the male gender, presence of baseline damage, active disease state, and higher inflammatory markers. By regulating the rate of radiographic progression, treatment with TNFi exhibited a disease-modifying impact.
