Factors influencing vision-related quality of life according to glaucoma severity
Acta Ophthalmologica Mar 03, 2019
Chun YS, et al. - According to glaucoma severity, researchers described factors affecting the vision-related quality of life (VRQOL). They recruited 901 patients with varying stages of glaucoma from the prospectively designed LIGHT (Life Quality of Glaucoma Patients Who Underwent Treatment) study conducted by the Korean Glaucoma Society. Compared to the visual acuity (VA) of the worse eye, the VA of the better eye was much more influential in the moderate and severe defect groups. In advanced glaucoma, the effect of VA on VRQOL was more prominent. In patients with glaucoma, visual acuity is the most influential factor in VRQOL. In order to maintain good VRQOL, VA preservation should be highly prioritized.
