Factors influencing management and outcome in patients with occult breast cancer with axillary lymph node involvement: Analysis of the national cancer database
Annals of Surgical Oncology Sep 22, 2017
Hessler LK, et al. - Using a patient registry database, researchers investigated factors associated with treatment and outcomes in Occult breast cancer (OBC). OBC patients receiving care at an academic center were more likely to undergo radiation (RT)+ axillary lymph node dissection (ALND). Patients treated with RT + ALND indicated significantly better OS compared with patients treated with MAST (mastectomy with ALND ± RT), after adjusting for covariates. This provided support for the use of RT + ALND as localÂregional (LR) treatment for patients with OBC.
