Factors associated with visual outcome after macula-off rhegmatogenous retinal detachment surgery

Park DH, et al. - During this study, the preoperative factors affecting the visual outcome and postoperative factors related to changes in visual acuity were investigated, following reattachment surgery in patients with macula-off rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Findings revealed that the preoperative factors included the extent of detachment, macula-off duration and external limiting membrane integrity. On the other hand, outer retinal microstructures, particularly the photoreceptor outer segment layer served as the postoperative predictive factors.
