Factors associated with sleep quality in patients with chronic widespread pain attending multidisciplinary treatment
Pain Practice Feb 06, 2020
de Rooij A, et al. - Researchers examined baseline data from 163 chronic widespread pain patients referred for multidisciplinary treatment in order to determine the prevalence of poor sleep quality among these patients. Further, they investigated the correlations between clinical, cognitive and emotional factors and quality of sleep in these patients. Ninety-two percent of the patients reported poor sleep quality revealing the high prevalence of poor sleep quality in this patient population. As per the multivariable model, a higher level of fatigue, psychological distress and more concerns about the illness are individually correlated with poorer quality of sleep. Findings emphasize the necessity of targeting sleep during treatment.
