Factors associated with sleep quality in patients with chronic widespread pain attending multidisciplinary treatment
Pain Practice Mar 07, 2020
de Rooij A, et al. - Researchers examined the prevalence of poor sleep quality in patients with chronic widespread pain (CWP) receiving multidisciplinary treatment. Further, they investigated the associations between clinical, cognitive, and emotional factors and quality of sleep in these patients. They assessed baseline data from 163 patients with CWP who were referred for multidisciplinary treatment. Of these, 92% reported poor sleep quality indicating a high prevalence of poor sleep quality in patients with CWP referred for multidisciplinary treatment and emphasizing the necessity to target sleep during treatment. Poorer quality of sleep was observed in independent correlation with a higher level of fatigue, psychological distress, and more concerns about the illness.
