Hwang YC, et al. - For this investigation, researchers followed 1731 individuals with prediabetes at baseline from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study every 2 years for 10 years to ascertain the clinical variables correlated with conversion from prediabetes to normal glucose tolerance, with a focus on insulin secretory capacity, insulin sensitivity and body composition. In Korean adults with prediabetes, a higher insulin secretory capacity at baseline and during follow-up and higher baseline muscle to fat ratio were independently related to an improvement in glucose tolerance.
